The Oxymoron is currently selling Rachel Taylor’s anti-regeneration postcards featuring the best and worst bits of Kennington and Vauxhall taken over the last two years.
Rachel is a proud Vauxhall resident, who has been photographically documenting North Lambeth for nigh on twenty years and is perfectly qualified to be SE11’s tourist guide par excellence.
Individual postcards are 50p. Pack of 12 for 4.00 pounds.
It’s warming up and the beer garden is blooming. We promise a calming sun-spot with shade if you require it. We back on to Roots and Shoots which is a nature reserve, so it really feels like you are far from the madding crowd. Just watch out for the wild-life.
BRILLIANT NEWS FOR LIVE MUSIC LOVERS!
SAT 15TH OCTOBER FROM 8 TILL LATE (02.00AM) WE ARE HOSTING THE GUTSY LYRICAL HUXLEYS. IT’S GOING TO BE ONE TO REMEMBER DOWN KENNINGTON WAY! UNMISSABLE MUSIC AT THE OXY!
The Oxymoron has come to the conclusion that it would be a good idea to let people come and use the kitchen. It is here and it is for hire any day of the week. If you are having a party with lots of guests and a guaranteed booze-up we will even let you use it for free! Please contact Lisa or William on email@example.com to enquire.
Yes we are now stocking Kernel, sublimely tasty ale brewed in Bermondsey.
At the moment we have Pale ale (Huell melon), Dry stout and India Pale ale (Mosaic citra amarillo). They are settling in very well and seem to enjoy being both indoors and out.
We have had a busy time at The Oxymoron entertaining our customers with the best bands out there.
Dakota Jim and Louisa Jones have made regular monthly appearances and have completely won our hearts and minds with their charmingly outrageous folkiness. They have even brought along their friends – The Relatives – who defy description and must be heard. This is what happens when cunning minds get hold of a banjo….
I will be posting future dates.
On Sundays from 5pm we have Emrys of The Soul Immigrants hosting a jazz session. He is pictured below with Marcello the chef having a bit of a jam while the customers go hungry (only joking). Please feel free to turn up with your instrument of choice and give Emrys a run for his money – it’s fun and everybody claps!!
We do have a back garden at The Oxymoron. It’s a gem of a space on a sunny day and even on a gloomy day it has a lot of potential. At the moment it is having a bit of a makeover presided over by a Totem Pole that just Sprung up one Spring morning.
People always ask this question although they mostly kind of already know the answer. Yes that’s right it’s something to do with GCSE poetry. Apart from this though, what is an Oxymoron really?
I believe it is a cross between a few different, equally loveable creatures. It could literally be “All things bright and beautiful” rolled into one big beastly ball. I have sadly been putting quite a lot of thought into this of late and am constantly coming up with rough drafts that don’t quite make the mark. I have however attempted to get an Oxymoron onto a chalkboard for the benefit of some outdoor advertising. I shall let the public be the judge and get back to the drawing board asap…
This is The Oxymoron’s first post on a profoundly gloomy wednesday in November.
So far so good. About to place a drinks order and contemplating some very interesting choices in soft drinks – like Karma Cola, Gingerella, Fentiman’s this and that. Makes the Oxymoron wonder what happened to Tizer. But then again we did have the exotic Dandelion and Burdock, which was a love hate recipe along the lines of marmite and salted liquorice. The Oxymoron definitely loved it and the rest.
Going to attempt to post this deathless prose now, wish the Oxymoron luck will you, this WordPress thing isn’t as easy as they said it would be.
There’s a lot of choice out there, but after much inner and outer wrangling we have selected Sweden’s “Pistonhead”, Scotland’s “Brewdog Punk IPA” and good old Blighty’s “Fuller’s Frontier” to grace our bar and please our drinking audience. They are very crafty as well as tasty so watch out for them!
